One of my favorite dishes pizza. I don't discriminate, I like thin crust, deep dish, hand tossed. I really love it all! So, I took that love and created a great hot dip that is loved by all ages.
4 strips of bacon
1/4 c chopped onion
2 cloves minced garlic
1/2 lb ground Italian sausage
1/2 lb ground beef
2-3 pieces of ham
1/2 c chopped mushrooms
1/2 c chopped red and green peppers
2 T Italian or Pizza seasoning (I love Penzeys Pizza Seasoning)
2 blocks of cream cheese (8 oz each)
2 c mozzarella cheese
2 rolls of pizza dough
Optional: You can always add black olives, red pepper spice and any other pizza toppings you love
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit. I like to make this in a cast iron pan so you can keep it hot for serving. Start by browning up your bacon. I use my kitchen shears to chop up the bacon. Add your onion and and garlic in with the bacon. All of this adds great flavor to your dish and also allows you to skip using butter or oil. Remove your onion, garlic and bacon and brown the beef and sausage. Then add the bacon, onion, garlic back in and cook down the veggies.
After you have cooked all that goodness in the pan take the soften cream cheese and mix it in with the toppings. Bake the dip for 20 minutes and serve with the baked pizza crust. Enjoy!
