Pumpkin Mums- Two great fall staples in one
I don't know about you, but keep finding new ways to use those great faux foam pumpkins. As I've said before I love taking something like the foam pumpkins and being able to use them year-after-year. These pumpkin mums do just that! Also check out how to add polka dots to your real pumpkins for some extra fun.
All you need:
- Foam pumpkin (I like the tall skinny ones)
- Rocks or weight for drainage
- Knife for carving (serrated works best)
- Potting soil
Take your pumpkin and carve out the top. Make it slightly smaller than the pot your mum comes in. Make sure to cut drainage holes in the bottom of the pumpkin. I made four small X's. Next add in your rocks. These help with weight to keep your mum on the porch and drainage. Fill up your pumpkin half full with potting soil. Remove the mum from the plastic pot and break up the soil. Add it into the pumpkin and fill up the space with your remaining potting soil. Make sure to water after you plant to help with success.
